Thread Plug Gauge Set

The primary purpose of this THTP-5024 is to determine the appropriateness and effectiveness of the participant’s methods, procedures, training, and measurement uncertainty calculations relating to the measurement of thread set plug gauges.  This kit consists of ¼-20 UNC-2A, 10-32 UNF-2A, 3-56 UNF-2A.

Participants are asked to make 12 measurements that focus on the pitch diameter and major diameter (full form) for various thread standards and conditions (GO and NO GO), with values reported in inches and accompanied by measurement uncertainties.

Participants are expected to be familiar with, and have appropriate lab equipment and measurement uncertainties for calibration of similar devices.

12" Single Beam Height Gauge

The intent of the HGTG-7024 ILC/PT is to provide a means for the participant to determine the appropriateness and effectiveness of the participant's practices, training, and measurement uncertainty relating to calibration of an Electronic Height Gauge.

This ILC/PT Kit contains an electronic height gauge with a 0.0005-inch resolution with a stated manufacturer's accuracy of ±0.001 inches. Participants will use their lab practices to perform 12 measurements of height from zero to 12 inches. Measurement values will be appropriate for the calibration of similar devices.

Participants are expected to be familiar with height gauges and must have appropriate lab equipment and measurement uncertainties for the calibration of similar devices.

Thread Wires - Set of 9

This ILC/PT provides three sets of thread wires, each containing three wires (wires are typical of those used for 60 degree; TPI 20, 40, and 80 thread gauge calibration). Wires have been identified by size and color.

Participants are asked to measure these nine thread wires following their established procedures and report the results along with associated uncertainty. The reference uncertainty will be in the order of 0.00002 in.

Spline Gauge

This External Spline kit gives organizations an opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency (e.g., use of appropriate equipment, procedures, and ability to follow instructions) in the calibration of an External Spline Gauge.

By participating, participants will demonstrate technical competence for the measurement of parameters associated with measurement over wire, major diameter measurements, and circular tooth thickness as related to a spline gauge.  The associated reported uncertainties of the measurement will also be evaluated as part of this ILC/PT.

Plain Cylindrical Plug Gauge Set

The intent of this ILC/PT is to provide a means for participant laboratories to determine the appropriateness and effectiveness of participant practices, training, and measurement uncertainty calculations relating to the calibration of Cylindrical Plug Gauges.

This program provides the opportunity to measure the outside diameter of four plugs from one-half inch to three inch. This ILC is beneficial to laboratories with measurement uncertainties in the 23 µin to 40 µin range. The associated reference uncertainty is 18 µin to 24 µin.

Digital Micrometer and Caliper Set

The intent of this ILC/PT is to provide a means for the participant to determine the appropriateness and effectiveness of participants practices, training, and measurement uncertainty relating to calibration of a micrometer and a caliper.

This ILC-PT includes both a micrometer and caliper in one kit. The one inch micrometer has five readings within its range. The caliper has four readings over the six inch range. Measurement uncertainties reported are in the order of 0.0004 inch.

Inspection Parts - Pin, Aluminum Cast Artifact

The intent of this ILC/PT is to provide a means for the participant organization to evaluate the ability of a technician to make measurements using dimensional inspection test equipment. For this ILC/PT, micrometers, height gauges and calipers are the only inspection measuring equipment to be used.

This program involves the measurement of distances, locations, and the inside and outside diameters of an aluminum artifact with approximate dimensions 150 mm x 100 mm x 35 mm, and a set of Deltronic pins. Reference values are obtained by CMM measurement. The associated reference uncertainties are typically on the order of 2 µm to 3 µm. This program is very suitable for participants who measure machined work pieces using hand gages such as micrometers, calipers, height gages and indicators.
