The National Association for Proficiency Testing (NAPT) is excited to share updates from its recent Annual Board of Directors & Management Meetings.
Eagan, MN, December 15, 2023 – The National Association for Proficiency Testing (NAPT) is excited to share updates from its recent Annual Board of Directors & Management Meetings, held from November 11th to 13th, 2023. As a leading proficiency testing provider for the metrology community, NAPT is pleased to showcase its achievements in 2023 and reveal ambitious plans for the upcoming year.
In 2023, NAPT achieved significant milestones, solidifying its role as a key player in proficiency testing. These accomplishments reflect the organization's unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement, positively impacting the metrology community's proficiency testing standards and practices.
Looking forward, NAPT is eager to unveil its visionary plans for 2024, designed to further elevate the quality of proficiency testing services. The overarching theme that emerged from the meetings is the strategic preparation for the next 25 years. Discussions focused on anticipating changes in leadership at both the board level and within the technical cadre, ensuring that NAPT continues to deliver superior services.
Acknowledging the need for an expanded and specialized board, efforts are underway to recruit new members. Howard Zion, currently a Board Member from Transcat, will assume the role of Vice Chairman, and Mitchell Jones, from Indysoft, will join the board on January 1, 2024, filling the newly created marketing role.
To enhance NAPT's relationship with accreditation bodies, a board member role will be designated to collaborate with them. The decision-making process regarding multiple accreditations from various bodies was thoroughly debated, and a strategic five-year plan will be developed to align with organizational policies and needs.
The Board of Directors approved adjustments to enrollment and membership fees, effective February 1, 2024. This decision, though reluctantly made, is necessary for NAPT to meet financial obligations as a non-profit organization. The restructuring of fees ensures that members receive the same discount based on the number of enrollments.
The Technical Advisor meetings underscored the need for increased communication, expanded proficiency test kits, and the implementation of additional consulting services. NAPT will modify its website to clearly delineate the services provided to the metrology community.
Key Highlights for NAPT's 2024 Plan:
- Determine & Recruit Active Board Members
- Create a 5-year plan for Success
- Expand Training/Webinars
- Add Membership Benefits
- Add New Capabilities to NAPT Customer Portal
- Release an updated Version of Accreditation Manager
- Create Technical Advisor Portal
- Identify new sources of revenue/recurring revenue
- Develop strategies to increase participation with Accreditation Bodies
- Drive demand for services
The Board of Directors and Technical Advisors express their appreciation for NAPT staff for their valuable contributions to the metrology community.
